Non-Profit Art of the Day:

"It is a new turn on "street art." Financially supported by The Ontario Trillum Foundation and Arts in the Hood/To Live with Culture, AOTM ... is planning to wrap a fleet of vehicles (fifteen in total, from the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors) in art instead of the advertising with which they'd commonly be festooned. The concept is to showcase more of the talents of the arts community and engage people in their own neighbourhoods."

Banksy of the Day:

"I wouldn't sell shit to Charles Saatchi. If I sell 55,000 books and however many screen prints, I don't need one man to tell me I'm an artist. It's hugely different if people buy it, rather than one f##king Tory punter does. No, I'd never knowingly sell anything to him." -Banksy

Ridiculously Cool Pool of the Day:

"The only thing cooler than a pool party on a summer night in New York City is a secret pool party.

"And the only thing cooler than that, as a few enterprising developers recently discovered, is a secret pool party in a pool made out of a Dumpster on the banks of the Gowanus Canal in industrial Brooklyn." - Melena Ryzik for the New York Times

Quote of the Day:

"The creative process is a cocktail of instinct, skill, culture and a highly creative feverishness. It is not like a drug; it is a particular state when everything happens very quickly, a mixture of consciousness and unconsciousness, of fear and pleasure; it’s a little like making love, the physical act of love."

-Francis Bacon

Crazy Science Project of the Day:

This is so weird..and awesome at the same time.

"What do you get if you cross a bunny rabbit, some jellyfish genes and a madcap Brazilian bio-artist? Alba, the glowing green rabbit...artist Eduardo Kac commissioned a French genetics lab to make his genetically modified creation by implanting the albino rabbit with Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) from a type of jellyfish. Under a certain blue light, Alba literally glowed green."

Quote of the Day:

"We all know that Art is not truth. Art is a lie that makes us realize the truth, at least the truth that is given to us to understand."
-Pablo Picasso

Dash Snow RIP of the Day:

Image link:

ontroversial New York artist Dash Snow has died of a drug overdose at age 27.
Born into a life of wealth and extravagance, Snow famously rebelled through his art consistently portraying hardcore pornographic scenes and sensational drug use.
He had a major breakthrough in 2006 when Charles Saatchi exhibited his torn phone book piece entitled F--- the Police.

"Snow was far from an art-world outsider. His grandmother is the philanthropist and art collector Christophe de Menil, whose mother Dominique de Menil was heiress to the Schlumberger oil fortune and a major art collector. His mother, Taya Thurman, is Hollywood actress Uma Thurman's half sister. She recently gained attention for charging the highest rent on record at the Hamptons: $750,000 for a single summer season."
